A willingness to learn some basic Chinese and engage with other employees in the household
Fit and active, able to swim (preferred but not essential)
Our lovely clients require a Native English speaker, with a strong knowledge of ESL, Phonics and Primary Curriculum to help their children adapt to their new environment in a top International School and help them to access the curriculum fully. There are other tutors in the household, therefore a team player is crucial, as there will be the need to collaborate and share information about their progress, lesson planning and schedules. It will be necessary to support the older children with their homework and plan additional activities and classes to improve their English language skills.
The mother is actively involved in the children’s education and would like to welcome a tutor into their family on a long-term basis. Although this is a fully staffed household, they are a relaxed and respectful family who require a personable tutor who can fit into their busy lifestyle. The family want the best for their children and will be happy to provide the tutor with any resources they require.
The tutor will focus on teaching the two oldest boys who are 5 and 6, but occasionally provide some English activities with their youngest brother who is 3. There is an English speaking Chinese teacher, employed by the family to oversee all aspects of the children’s education, who will be available to help the tutor settle in and provide guidance on each child’s learning style.
Working hours will be 5 days per week, 5 hours per day after school and 5 hours on a Saturday morning, with Sundays and Mondays off.
This is a live out position with accommodation provided in the form of a small apartment within 1km of the family home. Should the tutor wish to live in with the family, a room can also be provided.
The tutor will be expected to travel with the family during holidays and will be provided with their own private room and bathroom, with all expenses paid.
There will be 4 weeks paid holiday per year, which should be taken at a time convenient to the family.
Duties
Tutoring of all three children, with main focus on the older two
Organise interesting classes and activities related to each child’s personal interests
Read and play games to stimulate learning
Support older children with homework and communicate with school teachers regularly
Keep the parents and other tutors informed of all developments
